Hey guys, just came back from an awesome weekend in Kansas City at Spectrum Fantastic LIVE.
Met lots of great artists and had some of the best conversations with the people at the event. Thank you everyone who bought prints and who came out to say hello, as well as the awesome awards ceremony put on by the Spectrum crew! It was great seeing old friends as well as meeting new ones.
It was especially great hanging out with great people and talents like Ryan Graff, Eric Fortune, Joao Ruas, Eric Joyner, Felipe Echevarria, Jeff Simpson, Keita Morimoto, Jason Felix, Justin Gerard, Cory Godbey, Jason Edmiston, Anthony Kosak, Wayne Reynolds, Travis Louie, Brandt Peters, Kathy Olivas, Doug Gregory, Greg Manchess, and Jean Baptiste Monge. There may have been many more, I apologize if I missed any names.
I am looking forward to next year when they put on another Spectrum LIVE event again.
Things are busy after I got back and have a few deadlines, I will be posting and sharing some Spectrum photos that I took at the event, hopefully really soon.
Below is a painting I had at the event, that I can finally show now.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to do a quick post today to thank everyone who came out last night to support the event. Ashita was a great success and it was an amazing turnout, not to mention the great food donated by Guu Izakaya and great performances.
Throughout the night, I had talked to some people who had actually experienced part of the quake in Japan and was there when it happened. And still, many of them are a bit shaken up about it. Let us be hopeful that things will get better for all these people and families currently affected by this unfortunate event.
I was able to take some photos of the event for those who missed it. I have posted them on my Flickr account. Unfortunately I was busy in the gallery room most of the hours and missed a few of the great performances.
Please also check out this other set of photos from Hirata as well.
Here are the two pieces I contributed for the event.

A New Birth

Thank you to the new owners of these pieces. All of proceeds went to support the Red Cross Fund to help Japan.
Finally, many thanks to Rafi, Daisuke, and all the organizers and people who came out to the event. Hope we can all do our best to help a country in need.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to collaborate and jam with two artists, Tessar Lo and Harvey Chan. We worked on several large pieces, talking art while experimenting and just having fun, over lots of tears from laughing.
Also had the chance to check out Tessar's new studio, he has just posted photos of his place as well over on his blog.
Here are some photos of the day.

Not too long ago, I had the pleasure to jam with two creative talents, Tessar Lo and Erika Danusasmita to experiment with a bunch of media. A night dedicated to good music, drinks and paint.
Its nice to draw and paint to bring out the inner child for a night. Enjoying the process and not worrying about the results.
Here are some photos. Courtesy of Mr. Lo

I am very honoured and excited to have been invited to participate in this upcoming group show. Will be my first time exhibiting at the Jerome Jenner Gallery.
Information about this show:
The Sheridan Illustration Council proudly presents the Birds and the Bees Fundraiser Group show. The show features work from Sheridan alumni and faculty, consisting of well-known and emerging illustrators belonging to the fields of illustration, fine arts, comics, and much more. The hopes are to be able to raise funds to help put on a successful year-end show for the 4th year graduating class.
The show will offer collectors and new buyers the opportunity to acquire original artwork from renowned illustrators, and a chance for them to help support the next generation illustration stars.

Happy New Year everyone! Late but never too late...its still January.
Thought I'd post some of these unfinished drawings/studies from 2008.
Those who know me know that I am a sketchbook junkie..well maybe not junkie..but I remember someone telling me 'everytime i see you in lifedrawing, you are like using a dif sketchbook..lol'..i guess it suits me well...
Anyways, there are quite a few different kinds of sketchbooks i've bought last year and they are still empty..looking forward to try some of these and fill them up this year.
Finally started this 'albireo' sketchbook i got while I was in Japan in May 2008. So far so good, its a great sketchbook as you can peel out the pages easily, so if you don't like a piece, it is easily removable :)

These are mostly life studies etc, the first is a 30min to 40 min i think..in acrylic, the 2nd one are 20-25 mins watercolour, and the nude is 20 mins i think, i remember painting frantically to finish that one. hehe
New year resolutions:
-paint paint paint and draw
-finish some good illustrations with meaningful concepts
-continue to learn cooking, maybe make some good quality stuff by end of the year..haha
-continue workout, keeping motivated
-finish reading these books i have in mind...
...I guess thats all for now, lets see if they will stick.

The 6x6 online group show is up and i've contributed a piece to it. I posted the sketch of it recently on my blog, heres the final version.
All of the pieces are on sale at the show. Check it out here.
Heres a little feature about this show at Vinyl Requiem.
This is first of a new series of traditional paintings i'm starting, the concept for this set will be about human x nature interaction touching on ideas such as chaos and protection.

This is my current workspace...its getting really messy...gotta clean up. haha.
and about time for some art update. Here is a piece I am currently painting...it might be used for my mailer which will be available at the show next week. This is actually a second piece after a piece of the similar symbol. I will post that one later...as well as talk about the concept/series i'm working on at the moment.
P.S. One of the reason's i'm not posting much art recently is because i want to keep a few pieces as a sort of surprise at the Sheridan Grad Show...maybe. Anyways, I will post those too really soon on or after the grad show.
